Jan Žižka is experiencing family happiness in the village of Čeřejov and believes it will last forever. However, fate deals him several harsh blows; shortly after the birth of his daughter, his wife Kateřina dies, and he must seek a wet nurse. Obtaining an inheritance from a distant relative also proves to be more difficult than initially thought. And when the Rožmberks rise against the Habsburgs, King Václav IV. sends him as his secret agent to the anti-Habsburg camp. Even after the conflict is resolved, Žižka remains in the service of the Rožmberks and timely warns the king about the plots of the nobility, who are preparing to form the Panské jednoty. Will Václav IV. take his warning seriously?

An event at the Český Krumlov castle forces Žižka to leave the service of the Rožmberks and declare enmity towards this family. He joins a group of bandits led by Matěj Vůdce. It is then that he realizes he has unwittingly become entangled in the predatory war of the minor nobility, exploiting impoverished gentry like himself for their own interests. Will he manage to regain the lost trust of the Czech king?
