Description
This technique was developed and introduced into practice in the 1950s by Thomas A. Bowen in Australia. The principle of reflex stimulation using the T. A. Bowen technique involves the therapist directly influencing the nerve endings in the skin, subcutaneous tissue, and muscles through what is known as the 'Bowen move.' Special pressure and pull, while simultaneously creating a skin fold, subsequently generate vibrations in the tissues. These manifest as a very effective means of optimally tuning the muscular system of the treated organism using its own regenerative mechanisms. ***** This book is primarily intended for the professional physiotherapy and massage community. Interested readers will find descriptions of the basic sets and techniques used in this method. The author further describes the basic physiological effects and a summary of recommendations for therapists and patients, as well as basic advice regarding subsequent suitable physical activities. The text is expanded for most sets by adding possible connections with the Chinese system of acupuncture points. ***** This book is the third edition of the work. The first and second editions were published under the title Bowen Massage.
