When I started writing and publishing my experiences, tips, and recommendations from my travels abroad, I made it a priority to provide readers with insights from relatively nearby Hungary, which I visit regularly and often, and where there are many relaxing locations where you can not only unwind with good wine or in a thermal bath but also visit historically interesting places connected to our Czech history. Thus, I decided to publish this travelogue about the region of Eger and Miskolc. I firmly believe that this travelogue will not only provide you with plenty of interesting information but also inspiration, and you will have a beautiful and pleasant stay in this area of Hungary. For example, the Eger Castle was built by the local bishop on a hill in the center of the city after the tragic Mongol invasion in 1241. In 1552, the castle became famous throughout Europe for its defense against the overwhelming Muslim forces led by the Ottomans, who besieged the castle for several weeks but then retreated without success. This siege also became the subject of a novel by the writer Géza Gardóny titled 'Jágerské hvězdy' (in modern Czech, 'Egerské hvězdy').
