Manfred Pretis is the author of numerous publications and research in the field of early care and support for the development of young children, as well as a person with long-term direct experience in this area. His publication reflects the current theoretical foundations of early care as a field, but the book also serves as a practical guide for professionals working (not only) in the social service of early care. Thanks to the numerous specific exercises that allow for self-reflection and reflection on the processes occurring in the early care centers of individual providers, it is possible to apply theory to direct practice. The publication will also serve university students well as an introduction to the field of early care and its theoretical foundations. They will find information about significant research studies that have influenced the formation of the early care field and are still pillars for discussions about the effectiveness, efficiency, and meaning of early care.
