Description
This Czech-language biology textbook introduces students to the Earth and the development of life, then moves from the macroscopic world to the microscopic world. It explains the cell as the basic unit of organisms and introduces viruses and single-celled organisms, from bacteria through selected fungi and lichens to protozoa. Algae represent the plant kingdom, while multicellular organisms are represented by invertebrates. Each chapter provides a general description of the organism, including its phylum and class where applicable, an illustrated explanation of its body structure, and an overview of selected representatives shown in diagrams with photographs. Interesting facts appear in side columns, followed by questions and a chapter summary. Larger sections open with an excerpt from popular science or literary works and reading-comprehension questions. The textbook also includes cyclical revision in the form of test questions with illustrations and a comprehensive final review.
