Description
In his autobiographical prose, poet, meteorologist, and wanderer Roman Szpuk describes his expeditions into the forests of Šumava. He sets out to the storm-lashed lookout tower on the summit of Boubín, to the winter crossing of the Basum Ridge, or in search of roaring deer. He encounters people on the fringes of society, often with inner wealth. He intersperses his diaries with short poems—haikus—and complements them with photographs taken with a self-made camera obscura. The book was nominated for the Josef Škvorecký Prize. The second edition is expanded with texts from 2018.
