Tomáš Řízek (1963) is a renowned Czech illustrator, author, publisher, and educator, a member of the Club of Illustrators of Children's Books. He has been active in European illustration since the early 1990s as an author of incredible genre breadth, dynamic artistic expression, and a talent for perfectly capturing illustrated text. He has illustrated for a wide range of Czech and foreign publishers. At the same time, he has been living in Taiwan for nearly twenty years, where he not only promotes Czech culture and art as an artist, educator, and publisher but is also inspired by the local environment to create unique works in the field of book culture and art. He is also the only Czech author whose books are officially recommended by the Taiwanese Ministry of Culture as recommended reading for local schoolchildren and high school students, whether it is a native story from the book Shoot the Sun or the entirely Czech Erben's Bouquet. In 2023, he received the 'Gratias Agit' award for his efforts, which is granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic to those who build a good name for the Czech Republic abroad.
