Rozžehni lampu ve svém srdci – Yong Liu (2023)

The collection Ignite the Lamp in Your Heart (?????) contains 104 short lyrical prose pieces, dominated by themes of love, friendship, and humility. Small lessons for everyday life are presented with great kindness and perspective. The prose reflects the inspiration of Buddhist teachings, of which the author is a follower, and despite numerous cultural peculiarities, it conveys a universally understandable message for members of various cultures. Through Liu Yong's prose, the Czech reader can become acquainted with the values and cultural patterns that are important for Taiwanese people, and by extension for Chinese people in general, while also gaining lessons and inspiration for their own lives. The prose is written in a simple yet elegant language, with the author conveying his thoughts in a straightforward, yet witty and entertaining manner. The Czech edition of the collection is conceived as a mirrored edition of the prose in the original Chinese and Czech translation. Thanks to the bilingual format, the publication is suitable for those interested in Taiwanese or Chinese-language literature, as well as for Czech students of Chinese or Chinese-speaking students of the Czech language.
