In a short time, the second edition of the unique book discussing log driving on Czech rivers from the 14th century to the present day is already out. The reader will learn many interesting facts about the history of timber floating, salt transport, and other goods primarily on the Vltava River, captivating stories about loggers' inns, towing paths, and the tales of loggers, with a dignified place dedicated to significant figures associated with logging (Jan Ferdinand Schor, František Herget, Kryšpín Fuk, Vojtěch Lanna). The second part is dedicated to logging technology (preparation of log rafts and sources) and terminology (shrek, joch, líhy, okovec, pančava, pup, ušák, and more than two hundred other terms). The appendix consists of complete texts of logging songs with musical notation. The book is supplemented with many photographs and colorful drawings or maps.
