Orchid grower Benedikt Roezl, racing driver Eliška Junková, philanthropist Vojta Náprstek, adventurer Rudolf Slatin, designer Hanna Podolská, or first-class star Anna Ondráková. For their actions, they were admired but often condemned. Through poignant excursions into the past, journalist Tomáš Čechtický illustrates the claim "All glory is fleeting." The applause for these twenty-six geniuses of their time has long since faded, if it ever sounded at all. The publication complements the fates depicted in the book Geniuses in the Shadows and loosely follows the popular volumes Premature Deaths Recorded in History and Unexpected Deaths Recorded in History.
