The plot of seventeen stories with a mysterious atmosphere takes place in various parts of the world, from green Ireland, through southern Sweden, exotic Amazonia, to romantic Madeira. They feature various impressive settings, such as a monastery on the melancholic Baltic coast, an evening cemetery, a dark forest, or a church after dark. The style of the individual stories is not strictly limited to one specific genre. It includes purely horror motifs as well as detective, psychological, and supernatural elements (spiritism, black magic, tarot, psychic abilities, spells of jungle shamans). A common feature of all the thrilling stories in this book is the effort to bring the atmosphere of the environments and situations as close as possible, in which various characters face mysterious and terrifying phenomena completely alone. At the same time, the reader has a unique opportunity to glimpse into the deepest corners of their minds, along with all the hidden phobias, nightmares, fears of the irrevocability of their own fate, and the desire to unravel the yet undisclosed mystery of what awaits us after death...
