Zbiroh na fotografiích – Svobodová Eva (2022)

The book features over 370 photographs capturing Zbiroh from the earliest images taken in the late 19th century to the present day. It depicts not only the overall transformations of the town, the reconstruction or construction of significant urban buildings, but also focuses on ordinary houses and cottages. Greater attention is particularly paid to the square, descriptions of individual houses, emphasizing a more detailed capture of shops, trades, services, or offices that were located in the buildings and the people who operated them. The book also provides detailed descriptions of Sládkova Street, Škvárovna, Chaloupky, Zámostí, Františkov, Vlčí jáma, and Švabín. It does not overlook the social and cultural life. The descriptions of the photographs are largely based on the memories of Zbiroh's witnesses and records from the town chronicle. The book will undoubtedly revive the memories of those who remember and provide the younger generation with numerous insights into the lives of their ancestors, the now almost unused local names of houses and places, and also present previously unpublished photographs from private archives.
