Elíšébah, known as Pírko – in Czechia Alžběta Pírková – is a bone collector. The mythical sister of Cain has been returning for nearly six thousand years, during which time she has become somewhat of a tough girl. There is no death on earth that I have not experienced. What else should I be afraid of? In each of her lives, she moves to places where destroyed and plundered graves lie, to collect bones, burn them, and ceremonially bury them. No one else suspects that for millennia she has also been searching for something that is vitally important to her and that someone may have hidden right in the middle of the Czech Central Highlands. In early February 2018, Alžběta leaves the Šumava Sudetes and heads to Litoměřice. What awaits her in the magical landscape of extinct volcanoes is far more terrifying than she anticipated.
