Description
Martin Vídenský, a native of Ústí nad Orlicí and a train conductor, gifted himself a poetry collection complemented by beautiful black-and-white photographs by Petr Pulc for his fiftieth birthday. The selection of poems is surprisingly diverse. Several currents intertwine throughout the book: while reading the short miniatures, you might recall old Chinese or Japanese poets or perhaps Jan Skácel. Nature lyricism alternates and intertwines with urban blues – just as it often does in life. As a small taste of the author's style, let’s mention his verses from an earlier collection: Try to cross the river / and not touch the water / try to rise to the heights / hidden in the clouds / let yourself be carried by the sweet breeze / and the soothing weeper / and protect your dreams / from the all-consuming gray.
