Description
The fates of the Volhynian Czechs who left to build their livelihoods in the territory of present-day Ukraine in the second half of the 19th century are an incredible story of will and the ability to adapt in an unfamiliar environment, as well as a story of human nobility in the midst of pure evil, whether embodied by the Bolsheviks, German Nazis, or bands of Banderites. The Volhynians often lost everything in their lives and started over. Their foundation was always family, fellow countrymen, and love for the Czech homeland, for which they did not hesitate to shed blood. The Lipa Alley records the testimonies of the inhabitants of the now non-existent village of Lypyny.
