Bratři Karamazovovi – Dostojevskij Fjodor Michajlovič (2021)

A new illustrated edition of one of the most significant works from the golden age of Russian literature, featuring dozens of previously unpublished images by Russian painter Boris Grigoriev. Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamazov, which was first published in Czech in 1894 and has seen a total of six Czech translations, was considered one of the peaks of world literature shortly after its release and remains one of the most read works to this day. Against the backdrop of the fate of the Karamazov family, the father and his sons, the eldest of whom, Dmitri, is accused of patricide, Dostoevsky develops and contemplates the most important philosophical questions that humanity has pondered since time immemorial. The new edition of Dostoevsky's novel is complemented by a unique, previously unpublished series of sixty illustrations by Russian painter Boris Grigoriev (1886–1939), who is one of the most prominent figures in Russian painting in the first half of the twentieth century, with his works found in the collections of many museums in Russia and the West.
