Description
The poems of Kateřina Mašatová differ from the off-the-shelf collections of girls' and women's poetry through their life and literary knowledge. While she certainly does not shy away from the most intimate topics, there is only a minimum of banal, sweet-sorrowful sighing. The author can be tough on herself, and there is irony, especially towards herself. There is a sense of perspective, hidden literary quotes, and plenty of beautiful ideas, both poetic and formal. And there is also a wider range of life feelings, although the sad ones, much like in life itself, prevail. Thus, besides her colleagues in the life journey, a sixty-six-year-old skeptical grump can also enjoy OKA mžiky, which I hereby attest to. It remains to add that Kateřina Mašatová's verses harmonize beautifully with the illustrations of Jana Kubásková.
