Description
"The Drunkard with Chubby Hands" The book presents, for the first time in history, a comprehensive collection of all of Hašek's poems that have been found in various documents and publications. The poems were created continuously during his short life. They reflect Hašek's experiences at a given stage of life. Arranged chronologically, they thus depict the writer's fate and simultaneously provide a glimpse into history from the early 20th century. The entire collection is supplemented with rich editorial notes, interesting sketches from Hašek's life, explanations, and unique photographs mostly from literary and estate archival collections. Some poems in the collection were published only in periodicals or have not yet been published, such as a collection of anti-war poetry from a recently discovered war diary of accountant Vaňek, in Hašek's novel "thus druggists from Kralupy". On the cover of the bound book (224 pages), you will find a little-known reproduction of an oil painting portrait of Jaroslav Hašek by academic painter Karel Paták. The book will be appreciated not only by admirers of Hašek's work but also by literary and historical researchers.
