Description
A unique collection of short stories by Rudyard Kipling, who became famous here primarily for his Jungle Book, opens up a mysterious world of Masonic environment, of which Kipling was a part throughout his adult life... In his stories inspired by the environment and values of Freemasonry, the author turns to philosophical themes, delves into literary reminiscences, uncovers a world of mystery and spirituality, and addresses the theme of death and human finitude – especially in the stories set during World War I. This theme is particularly close to Kipling's heart, and through it, the author also comes to terms with his own painful loss, the death of his son, who perished at a young age on the battlefield of the world war. The book is being published in Czech for the second time, after more than eighty-five years. The original translation has been linguistically revised by Jan Velíšek, and the book has been newly supplemented with illustrations by Kameel Machart.
