Description
Light weekend reading for the train or the cottage consists of three stories with a detective plot, set in the environment of cottage settlements and forest camps of tramps. Oliva Foglová, a former secretary of a renowned Prague lawyer, investigates criminal acts, tactfully presenting them along with pointing out the true perpetrator to investigator Kroucký. Her helpers are neighbors from the Old Settlement, where the color of the Wild West still reigns – the eccentric docent Jeřábek, painter Kotík, who sells drawings of his models in pubs, cowboy Střecha, and the gloomy woodsman Cal vera with a Gibson and a wolf dog by his side. A peculiar character named Karbulka sneaks among the cottages, having declared an unyielding war on the cottagers. Time over the town of Poříčí, over the river, the cottage area, wooded hills, and rocky ravines flows quietly and slowly at the pace of summer rain. The landscape smells of grass, heated sand from the rocks, and the wooden walls of the cabins. And, of course, of blood criminally spilled. Bayonet after the Germans On a forest path, Oliva finds a murdered construction worker. A serious suspect is a young tramp guitarist, which Oliva cannot accept, and thus a strenuous rivalry with criminal investigator Kroucký is ensured... Dead in the basement ...
