Description

Marko Čermák (born February 14, 1940) is known as a versatile artist. Since the 1960s, he has been the closest collaborator of Jaroslav Foglar in creating new installments of the comic series Rychlé šípy. Later, he became the 'court illustrator' of the comprehensive edition of the writer's literary works. In the music scene, he gained fame as a pioneer of the five-string banjo and was a co-founder of the band Greenhorns. At the same time, he is a lifelong advocate of tramp culture. By nature, he has earned the characterization of a 'romantic of bygone times' among a large circle of supporters and friends. All aspects of the life trail of this fresh seventy-year-old are thoroughly documented and written in an engaging manner in Čermák's memoirs titled Poslední romantik. The captivating narrative is complemented by nearly two hundred photographs and the author's illustrations, 32 pages of color supplements, and a detailed bibliography and discography of the artist.
