Description
The Sázava, or Golden River as it has been called by rock climbers for over a hundred years, flows like a small stream from the wilderness of the Žďárské Hills, gradually gaining strength and after more than 200 kilometers, it merges its waters near the Central Bohemian town of Davle with the Vltava. During our journey through the region along the upper course of the Golden River, we will visit interesting towns and villages with a rich history. Among them are Krucemburk, Chotěboř, or Žďár nad Sázavou with its former monastery and the beautiful Santini pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk on Zelená hora. And we will discover that from this town, a network of connections set out to conquer the world. Occasionally, we will stray from the watercourse so as not to miss, for example, the skiing history of Nové Město na Moravě, Přibyslav, and Polná with its once vast castle, several churches, and a notorious crime. Do you know where the last Czech crash of Mig 21 fighters occurred? We will also reach this place. We will stroll through picturesque canyons, visit one of the largest temples in the Czech Republic, and listen to ancient stories that the whispering leaves will reveal to us. We will often encounter the names of well-known artists who were either born here, lived here, or had some connection to the upper Posázaví. Our journey will be enlivened by castle ruins and chateaus, linked with legends and the supernatural...
