Description
Králický Sněžník is a magical mountain on the border of three historical lands of the Czech Crown – Bohemia, Moravia, and Kladsko. Although it is one of our smallest mountain ranges in area, it is the third highest in terms of elevation. It is considered the roof of Europe, as it is here that the watersheds of three seas meet, and moreover, the mother of all rivers in the eastern part of our country, the Morava River, springs here. ***** The local region is surrounded by numerous legends and tales that date back even before the first written mentions of this area. It is ruled by the mythical Stamichman, as well as fairies, gnomes, and other supernatural beings. ***** The landscape is rich in wildlife, mysterious caves, and deep forests. It is also home to flowering meadows full of rare herbs that give life, health, and death. ***** In the shadow of these mountains, valleys were traveled in search of precious amber, precious metals were mined, decorative marble and black lead were extracted. Through the work of the local people, the tough stems of flax were transformed into the finest linen, rough sand into transparent glass, and a multitude of wood into the softest paper. It is a harsh land, just like the people who lived and live here. ****** And this is exactly what this book is about. It is not a tourist guide, but a testimony about a land of distant views and forest nooks. About towns and mountain villages, about forest solitude and places...
