Tajemné stezky - Krajinou chmele ze středního Poohří ke Džbánu – Koláček Luboš Y. (2023)

The region stretching from the Ohře River to the south and southeast towards the small Džbán mountain range is far from being associated only with hop cultivation. Together with the writer Luboš Y. Koláček, we will journey through a uprooted landscape, so deeply marked by the post-war expulsion of the German population. The former glory of this region is evidenced by the large number of monuments we will encounter along the way. Almost every village has a castle, fortress, or other noble residence. Many of them are in very poor condition, but some are being gradually saved. The deep faith of the local inhabitants is evidenced by many churches, chapels, shrines, and crosses, many of which have also been damaged. We will share many interesting stories, often with tragic endings. Our journey will begin at the once-mighty Šumburk Castle, whose ruins rise above the bends of the Ohře River. We will be welcomed by the famous royal towns of Klášterec nad Ohří, Kadaň, Žatec, and Louny, and we will discuss the tragic fate of the once district town of Doupov, reaching Podbořany along the border of the Military Training Area of Hradiště. We will visit the town of Mašťov with its rich Jewish history, the beautiful Baroque castles in Valč and Krásný Dvůr, and we will climb the bare hill of Rubín, which many consider to be the legendary Wogastisburg of Samo.
