Tajemné stezky - Orlické hory: Královstvím princezny Kačenky – Mach Jiří (2022)

We invite you to an exploratory and romantic journey through the Orlické Mountains and their foothills. Not only will we visit the most beautiful nooks, monuments, and natural attractions, but we will also get acquainted with remarkable stories that took place here in the past. Our knowledgeable guide will be Jiří Mach, the former long-time director of the local history museum in Dobruška. We can look forward to the foothill towns of Opočno, Dobruška, Vamberk, and Rychnov nad Kněžnou, and we will be hosted by the mountain villages of Olešnice in the Orlické Mountains, Deštné in the Orlické Mountains, or Orlické Záhoří. Almost everywhere along the way, we will admire the beautiful rural folk architecture. We will witness the glory and fall of the Trčků z Lípy family, read wise yet somewhat risqué inscriptions on the walls of the Opočno castle, learn where Božena Němcová's grandmother was from, what inspired the world-renowned painter František Kupka, and what the life story of Archbishop Otčenášek was like. We will walk along the ridges of the Orlické Mountains and perhaps also visit the mysterious Potštejn Castle or the unique church in Neratov. Our journey will be accompanied by stories about the fates of local woodcarvers, sculptors, and painters, as well as legends about ghosts or the rulers of the Orlické Mountains, Rampušák and Princess Kačenka.
