Can mysterious paths lead along the river too? Certainly, but probably no one has searched for them there yet. So let us be the first and set out not only on land but also along the Morava River through the region known as Slovácko. Only in the dark contours will we glimpse the remnants of a church beneath the river's surface at the Spytihněv fortress, consumed by the river centuries ago. Near Jarošov, a wisp of smoke rising from the vegetation will alert us to the village of prehistoric mammoth hunters. From there, we will sail to the ramparts of Veligrad-Old Town, where archaeologists have discovered the most beautiful gold and silver jewelry. From the water fortress (Uherské) Hradiště, the journey to Ostroh and Veselí nad Moravou will no longer be safe, as there is no escape from the bands of wild Bočkajovci, Kurucs, or Ottoman Turks on their swift horses. However, a train compartment can also become fateful if the notorious robber and murderer Lecián sits across from us. Therefore, we would rather sit next to Duke Jan Klimeš and Jaroslav Hašek, who are departing for a Balkan adventure. And who knows, perhaps we will even experience great love, hopefully happier than the love of Mánes's model Verunka Čudová for the count from the Bílovice castle, or the "gallant girl from Ježov," whom the writer Vojtěch Rozner fell in love with.
