Description
Let us embark on a journey with the author, historian Ladislav Smejkal, to explore the beauties and landmarks of a wonderful piece of land on the border of northern and central Bohemia - Dubsko and Kokořínsko. Our starting point will be the northern dominant of this region - Mount Vlhošť. From there, we will descend into ravines and continue through pine groves to the villages beneath the cliffs. On the shores of the ponds near Holany, we will visit the ruins of ancient fortresses, and around settlements with charming names and beautiful buildings, we will reach the town of Dubé, which was once a district center. From there, with a short detour to Doks, we will head down the Liběchovka Valley to Liběchov. We will explore the rocky areas once known as Dubské Switzerland, at the castle in Liběchov we will learn about the fates of the author of monumental sculptures Václav Levý, the patron Antonín Veith, and the poet and excommunicated priest František Matouš Klácel. Through Kokořín and Mšeno, a charming town where time seems to have stopped, past Štorchova Lobeč and Nosálov, we will ascend to Vrátenská Mountain with its lookout tower and stunning views. We will also stop at the mysterious Houska Castle, and in Skalsko, we will take a ride on an interesting garden railway. From Katusice, we will travel to Bělá pod Bezdězem and conclude our journey on Bezděz, a mountain celebrated...
