Join us on a journey to Podyjí, to the region on the border of Moravia and Lower Austria, where wine ripens on sunlit slopes and numerous castles and chateaus remind us of ancient history. We will wander along the Vranov Reservoir, above which rises Bítov Castle and the ruins of Cornštejn, just a little further is the baroque chateau Vranov on the rock, and through the romantic canyons of the Podyjí National Park, we will reach the ancient town of Znojmo, which remembers the long-ago Great Moravian Empire. Awaiting us is the legendary and poetically celebrated Pálava, dominating the region where mammoth hunters and Roman legionaries once dwelled, the Novomlýnské reservoirs, Mikulov with the Dietrichstein chateau, Lednice and Valtice with a unique natural area listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and finally the floodplain forests at the confluence of the Dyje and Morava rivers. Not too far from here, on the Austrian side of the border, lies Moravské pole, where the proud Přemyslid Otakar II fell heroically...
