Description

The publication documents the mutual relationships between two significant figures of women's culture in the 1920s and 1930s, textile artist Božena Rothmayerová, née Horneková, and the daughter of the president of the republic, Alice Masaryková. The publication by art historian Marie Szadkowská processes a unique collection of archival documents – primarily unpublished correspondence, notes, drawings, and sketches, as well as examples of the textile creations of the mentioned textile artist. In addition to the author's text, the publication contains transcripts of more than fifty letters, rich visual documentation, and a contribution from curator Markéta Vinglerová, documenting the collection of Božena Rothmayerová Horneková at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. The publication develops the theme of the eponymous exhibition presented from November 1, 2018, to September 29, 2019, in the exhibition space of the Study and Documentation...
