Description
With true maturation, S. d. Ch. continues the line of his earlier prose – the Secondary Trilogy (2015) and especially Cold Waves (2013). In contrast to them, however, his narrator recedes into the background and takes on the mask of an uninterested observer. Before our eyes unfolds a series of independently pointed images, interconnected by the lines of three leitmotifs (the search for the lost prince, the fate of a torn urban district, the historical journey of a pseudo-prince), five characters (the observer, the true prince, the spiritual heir of knight Žumbera, a character in a pink jumpsuit, the pseudo-prince), and four main settings (urban landscape, poorly founded metropolis, a town under Loreto, and a gardening colony). Rather than a classic story, the prose depicts the situation of a person who perceives the unnaturalness of human nature and the resulting inappropriateness of our existence and actions, a person who strives to break free from their social role and all institutional structures.
