Description
This Czech literary work had already undergone its own troubled history before publication, including rewrites into the past tense and refusals. The rewrites were made by figures from cultural life whom the minister mentions in his notebook and who died between the notebook’s writing and the book’s publication. From now on, however, everyone who dies will remain alive forever. The book is supposedly cheap, and indeed, despite its utopian, or dystopian, character, it must reflect the current carnival-like whole of Czech culture in order to create a resonant framework. “I do not understand that anyone does not understand this.” The contents are in Czech.
