Description
Fairy tales are our joy and accompany us through life. People have been telling them since ancient times. Whenever families gathered together, one story after another would echo through the room. Mikoláš Aleš illustrated just such tales. They are the foundation of many modern stories that we know from films and television and radio productions. Our national revivalists once collected them and neatly tied them into a bouquet. In our book, we find eleven national fairy tales told by Božena Němcová, heard on pilgrimages across Europe by Karel Jaromír Erben, and compiled for readers by Václav Říha. It may seem to us that they are a bit mixed up, variously connected, but that’s how it was, and that’s how it is. Each story carries something from the time in which it is told, which is why Cinderella is not quite the Cinderella we know from other books. Let’s be surprised and try some different tales than those we know from other adaptations. Edited by Jana Semelková. ************* The Firebird and the Fox Ryška, Immortal Kostěj, Water Sprite, The Sleeping Castle, Milan and Velenka, About the Swan, About the Princess with a Golden Star on Her Forehead, Godfather Matěj, Forest Nymph, About the Golden Spinning Wheel, About Cinderella.
