Description
The death of Jan Masaryk in 1948 remains the subject of numerous reflections, scholarly studies and cover-up tales, and is certainly one of the greatest mysteries in the history of the twentieth century. The author of this book encountered a remarkable coincidence that brought him completely incredible documents from the private archive of a man who was, so to speak, there at the time. The book may not please established historians, as it disproves some accepted truths and publishes others for the first time, but that is precisely its purpose. It is compiled from Jan Masaryk’s authentic notes, documents that an exceptionally devoted person managed to save, and, surprisingly, several chapters from Jan Masaryk’s theoretical works on the post-war reorganisation of Europe. The Czech-language book examines the unresolved circumstances surrounding his death.
