Description
The story of the young girl Milada begins in the late 1930s, vividly depicting the atmosphere in Brno and its surroundings. A passionate and pure bond develops between the Jewish boy Julius and the girl. Even at this early age, she encounters racism in many of its disgusting forms. She does not abandon her friend, even when he is imprisoned. After some time, Julius, along with other Jewish prisoners, is transferred from the Terezin concentration camp to work in the Kukla mine in Oslavany near Brno (now the Permonium amusement park), which allows for their reunions and a shared illegal struggle. The thrilling drama is filled with a romantic relationship, complicated and humorous situations, and courage bordering on audacity against the German occupiers. The perceptive reader receives a direct transfusion of fervent emotion and youthful courage for life. According to the promise the girl made to Julius and her Jewish friends during the war, their fates are described here, along with their indomitable resistance against the occupation, sabotage, hopes, desires, and fears...
