The author of the poetic and imaginative comics is Pavel Čech – a secret member of the Rychlé šípy, an Indian, a record holder in fire-starting with friction sticks, a former firefighter, the father of two sons – and also a painter, writer, and one of the most prominent domestic comic authors. The pinnacle of Čech's work so far is the book The Secret of the Island Behind the Wooden Fence (2009), for which he received the Muriel Award in 2010, awarded for the best Czech comic album.
