The writing books are part of a new set created for the first grade within the Reading with Understanding edition. Similar to the Living Alphabet and the Primer with Tom Cat, the guiding characters are Alenka, Michal, and Tom Cat in the form of illustrative accompaniment to the writing books. The practice of writing letters refers to the corresponding pages in the Primer with Tom Cat. To facilitate writing, there are guiding lines to maintain the size and slant of the letters. They are also suitable for left-handed students. Writing Book 3 and 4 provide not only practice of letters and words but also creative tasks of completing words into sentences and other playful activities. Writing Book 4 follows Writing Book 3.
