Description
The Kiosk on the Beach is a social novel, the story of a man set between 1948 and 1990. The narrative unfolds against the backdrop of the Czechoslovak totalitarian regime from 1948 to 1989 and concludes in the first half of 1990 with the disillusionment that the Velvet Revolution was a fraud. It played out like a transfer of power in a strange arrangement, according to a behind-the-scenes script in which the communists essentially handed power back to themselves.
