Description
This Czech-language book presents Taleeb Starkes’s argument that the dominant narrative about race relations in the United States wrongly identifies white racism, particularly racist police violence, as the greatest threat to Black lives. It examines Black Lives Matter, its protests and riots, and what Starkes describes as the far more serious danger posed by Black criminals. Citing data and extensive evidence, the author claims that Black Americans, who make up 13 percent of the US population, kill 90 percent of Black homicide victims, while whites, Asians and Latinos, who make up 87 percent of the population, kill 10 percent. Starkes argues that these figures alone challenge the claim that racist whites are the primary threat to Black Americans, and writes that the numbers reveal only part of a largely urban war in which victims and killers often strikingly resemble one another.
