David Drábek (1970) perfectly embodies the idea of a successful theater artist. As a playwright, he ranks among the most frequently staged and translated authors, and as a director, he belongs to creators with a remarkable imagination. In addition, he is a respected artistic director of Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové. Of his 25 plays, the tragicomic fates of three young "synchronized swimmers" titled "Akvabely" have gained the most prominence, having been staged abroad as well, while he drew significant media attention with the radio play "Koule," inspired by the life of former Czechoslovak athlete Helena Fibingerová. The present collection includes dramas from 2003–2011 that led to acclaimed productions (Akvabely, Ještěři, or Náměstí Bratří Mašínů), as well as lesser-known plays (Žabikuch, Unisex, Chmýří), radio plays (Vykřičené domy and Koule), and the latest works (Sherlock Holmes: Vraždy vousatých žen and Jedlíci čokolády).
