Description
The autobiography of folk bard Pavel Žalman Lohonka is conceived in an unconventional way – as fiction, in a story format. It begins with the following words: I was born after the war in a small village in South Bohemia, and it seemed that no exceptional future awaited me. When I was a boy, I never would have imagined that fate would one day be so generous to me. That God would send me a lot of songs that I would be allowed to play and that people would sing along with me. That I would perform thousands of concerts and not have to retire from music even in old age. But that is not what this book is about... I tried to remember seemingly mundane things – and as much as possible in a way that would entertain both me and you. Therefore, I arranged my memories – sometimes neatly, sometimes perhaps a bit untidy – into ten stories. Don't expect 'funny anecdotes' that I experienced with music and the people around it, nor lofty memoirs of a songwriter filled with life wisdom. Try to read my life as an ordinary story that often has extraordinary resolutions. Perhaps you will find yourself in it.
