Fifteen longer stories inspired by tales that testify to the life, thoughts, feelings, and follies of contemporaries. They are, despite the correct and oversensitive times, politically incorrect to the point of being harsh, which corresponds to our incorrigible nature. Their heroes strive for greater freedom, respect, or to amass wealth; they are preoccupied with the desire for success and recognition or are obsessed with sex, often deceived, misled, facing manipulation, aligning with feminism or defining themselves against it. They are written in a fresh and rich language that readers appreciate in Věra Nosková, and they predominantly feature a sarcastic and ironic tone, beneath which one can sense the author's compassion for the characters. ---------------------------- After reading the manuscript, Ivo Šmoldas expressed: Advocates of what has come to be called political correctness across the ocean live under the illusion that if we call something harsh with a gracefully soothing word, we will also smooth out the reality it denotes. They actually believe in magic. Věra Nosková certainly does not have the habit of lying to herself in this way. Rather, she has a knack for hitting the nail on the head, for choosing words that are fitting, and thus pointed, bristly, and shaggy, and her expressions are not polished but sharpened – precise and acute.
