Description
Sixteen short stories by ten different authors on exclusively kayaking themes, which won the second year (2012–2013) of the Keny VOLEJ literary competition. It contains a diverse selection of the best that our contemporary kayaking literary creation has to offer. Ten different authors once again brought incredible variety to the book. The writer Věra Nosková went kayaking for the first time at the age of 67, just to participate in the competition. In the stories, trees fall, paddles break, rafts are stolen, and a mystical castaway lures the kayaker to paddle upstream to the last pub. In the evening, the air is filled with the smoke of fires, and the Spirit of the River lies down under its canoe. Somewhere far in the future, the Last Kayaker has just found his first boat. A great read for long winter evenings, as well as to pass the time and set the mood while waiting for other kayakers at the campsite! Some of the stories have already been awarded in the Trapsavec literary competition. "Samples of kayaking stories from the books Shut Up and Paddle, River Castaways, and one story from a book planned for September 2015 have been published in an e-book, which is available for free in three formats including MOBI and ePUB here: bit.ly/vodacky_e-book1. The third book will also include an unpublished kayaking story by Zdeněk Šmíd."
