Description
With the expansion of L-39 exports, there arose a demand, especially from customers in third-world countries, for a version with increased weapon load capacity, which would better meet the requirements for a greater range of shooting training tasks and could also be used as a light combat aircraft. The manufacturer naturally tried to meet this demand, and the result of this effort was the L-39ZO in the first phase, followed by the L-39ZA. Both versions received new reinforced wings with four suspension points, significantly increasing the load capacity compared to the L-39C; additionally, the L-39ZA was armed with a Soviet-designed GSh-23 aircraft cannon. The final part describes the armament of the individual versions, further supplemented by pilots' memories of this aircraft.
