Description
The very first air races on the territory of the young Czechoslovakia were organized by the Czechoslovak Aviation Club under the patronage of President T. G. Masaryk on September 11 and 18, 1921, at the airport in Kbely. This aviation celebration, called the "National Aviation Meeting," was divided into several competitions assessing altitude, speed, and agility, culminating in a final round-the-country flight, which evaluated not only speed but also economy and reliability. A total of 26 aircraft were registered for the individual competitions, including 11 domestic machines, nine French aircraft, and six machines of German-Austrian origin. The publication describes the first two air races in great detail, supplemented by many period photographs.
