Description
The American Douglas A-20, known in Russia by its British designation Boston, was the most numerous foreign-produced bomber used by the Soviet Air Force. During World War II, more of them served in it than in the USAAF – under the Lend-Lease Act, around 3,000 of these aircraft were delivered to the Soviet Union, which flew against both ground and naval targets. Bostons were deployed as light bombers, torpedo bombers, heavy fighters, and fast transport aircraft. They were also part of the arsenal of other countries' air forces, but none used them on such a scale as the Soviet Union. Here, they remained in service for many years after the war, both in military and civil aviation.
