Human rights today represent the legal and ethical framework for the functioning of society. Their doctrine and practice are dynamically evolving. Impulses for this change come from both within and outside the law. Innovations originating from theoretical discourse, the search for new paths in justice, and transformations in the social context come into play. This is precisely the focus of the book by a collective of authors from the Faculty of Law at Charles University. Its leitmotif is an inventory of the state of human rights in the face of the realities of the early 21st century shaped by the phenomena of globalization, integration, multiculturalism, and new technologies. The book offers thematic diversity and a plurality of perspectives from which human rights can be viewed. Their common thread is the effort to answer the question of what crossroads human rights find themselves at: are these rights still on the rise, or have they already hit the limits of their growth?
