The book is a response to the current developments in the world economy, long plagued by a global financial crisis that has highlighted a number of deficiencies in banking regulation and supervision. As a result, discussions about changes, or rather the degree of regulation and supervision in the banking sector, are becoming increasingly frequent. The author addresses the shortcomings in the banking regulation and supervision system. She analyzes the existing system, both in a global and a European context, focusing on the Czech Republic.
