Description
The first monograph that maps the process of state intervention in private ownership throughout the history of Czechoslovakia, i.e., from 1918 to the end of 1992. The author discusses all significant stages of this process in our history, from land reform and considerations of nationalizing industry during the First Republic, through confiscations during the Protectorate and later based on the so-called Beneš decrees, to extensive nationalization after February 1948 and the subsequent process of privatization and restitution in the 1990s. The book is exceptional, among other things, for its unique comparison with nationalization processes and discussions surrounding them in other countries of both Western and Eastern Europe. It contains a number of previously unpublished information from archives.
