Description
A selection of essays by I. Bachmann represents the core of her critical work. It consists of reflections focused on literature, philosophy, and music, fields to which she devoted specific interest and in which she could develop her extraordinary abilities that combine penetrating intellect with extreme sensitivity. Literature was her lifelong calling, and she also had the need to reflect on it poetologically; she studied philosophy (completing her studies with a rigorous thesis that is a critical analysis of Martin Heidegger's existential philosophy) and had been engaged with music, which she originally wanted to pursue, since her youth (and also wrote several librettos, collaborating with composer Hans Werner Henze).
