Description
The new and significantly expanded edition of Dr. Jan Lípa's book describes the philosophy and practice of perhaps the oldest Czechoslovak Buddhist school – the Teaching of Fráňa Drtikol, which has survived to this day thanks in part to the author of this book and his friends. In clear words, it conveys experiences and puts them in context with significant sources of Buddhist literature. The publication includes a selection of important samizdat translations by Fráňa Drtikol, which are being published in book form for the very first time. The individual texts were selected to align with the content structure of the entire book and to which the author refers in the context of the transmitted Teaching of Fráňa Drtikol. Through these translations, Drtikol taught his students, for whom he also prepared them. New here is a detailed analysis of Ñāṇatiloka's Word of the Buddha, precisely in the spirit of the spiritual practice that Drtikol passed on. The book brings a much-needed system for practice through which enlightenment can be achieved. In this book, as well as throughout his life, the author conveys the Teaching of Fráňa Drtikol exactly as he received it from his master Evžen Štekl (1921–2001) and from him from the very František Drtikol (1883–1961), who brought us the practice of Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism.
